sediment bowls

Does anyone elso have problems with leaking sediment bowls. I have put new aftermarket sediment bowls on a few tractor now and they all leak eventually. They seem to leak from the bowl gasket regardess of how tight you make the bail assembly. Is there any where to get them to stop. Thanks

thats because the bail is tightened too much and warping the gskt. sealing surface. new gskt and tighten with thumb and finger till snug and it dont leak.

The aftermarket bowl I got came with a rubber gasket that was not gas resistant. Replaced it with a new cork 13194D from CNH. No more problems. As others said do not over thighten it.

When I bought one to replace my leaky one, the bowl was screwed on so tight it was tough to get off with channel locks. It didn't leak but I took it off a while back and it now seeps. Maybe if you buy one and never lean it out it will stay leak free. I think there all that way and thats why some people got rid of them years ago.

I bought two aftermarket sediment bowls recently and both of them leaked. The problem turned out to be the glass bowls were not round but were slightly egg shaped where they contacted the gasket.

I had this same problem for a long time until my FIL told be how to set the gasket. First, use a new cork gasket and put it on and finger tighten the screw on the bail. Turn the valve on the filter on and fill up the filter, gas will likely start leaking from the top. With one hand, press the glass bowl up against the gasket and loosen the bail screw with the other. You should be able to get the leak to stop with a very slight twist of the glass bowl against the gasket. Once you've found that magic spot where it doesn't leak by twisting, hold it in place and finger tighten the screw on the bail. Been doing this for some time now and it seems to work like a charm and has stopped my leaking sediment bowls. Good luck!
