I believe the fast hitch was "showcased around" at the fairs in the summer of 1952. It started to appear in production later in 1952 and in larger numbers in 1953 and through the end of the Super C production in 1954. The May - June 2004 issue of Red Power Magazine is full of information on the IH fast hitch and its development and later production. Mark Peters will probably join in on this thread and he has a considerable amount of knowledge on the subject. Hope this helps, Hal.

I have a 1951 Super C with Fast Hitch. It was retrofitted later; I even got the original hitch with the tractor.

Tom, I believe when they were introduced they were designed so they could be reto-fitted to all Super C's. That would explain why they show up on earlier tractors. I have an Aug. 1953 Super C with the factory fast hitch with a s/n of 180xxx and I've seen earlier fast hitch SC's prior to that s/n. I have the Farmall Super C Fast Hitch supplement to the owners manual which is Rev. #4 and is dated May 29, 1953 so I'm sure they predate that date, Hal.
