Hello looking for info/help.... recently purchased a 62 340 with an international 2000 loader. Loader moves very slow and has little power. looking for any advice or fix to this thanks in advance

Have you changed the hyd fluid and changed filter yet? Do you have separate controls for the loader or is it plumbed through the tractor valves?

I have the same setup (340 with 2000 loader) and mine is using the tractor hydraulics with the transmission mounted pump. Changing the filter and fluid really brought mine around. If yours is using the tractor's valves, make sure the selectors are set to single acting for the lift cylinders and double acting for the bucket. The little clip that keeps the selector in place is missing on my bucket valve and it moves to a position in between single and dual, causing the bucket to move slowly. Mine also has an elbow and 3" pipe nipple screwed into the level plug (by the LH foot board) to raise the hydraulic oil level to keep from starving the system. If that doesn't do it, I'd look at the pump and valves.

Fluid and filters have been changed. It is run off of the tractor pump (in transmission) and appears to run through a valve prior to going to the control valve on the loader... you'll have to excuse me if i sound dumb as this is the first i have dealt with a tractor of this style. Possibly the tractor has a low gpm pump? the three point works fine and fast off the hydraulics...

The internal pump is either 11 or 17 gpm. I believe you can tell which via the serial number. If it were the crankshaft driven (external) pump, it would have been only 9 gpm as mine is. I'm planning on putting a 1701 IH loader on my 340U.

From what I understand, the 11 gpm pump should be suitable for that loader. You should be able to calculate roughly how fast the arms will raise the bucket by the diameter of the cylinders and the pump flowrate, and then compare that to what you are experiencing. Putting a pressure gauge in the line will also tell you how much pressure you're getting.

First thing I would do is familiarize yourself with the system thru this article. It is about a 460 IH, but the system is identical to the 340, and it is hands down the best description of the system I've found. You need to first of all find out what pressure your system is developing. If the control valve is clogged it may be internally bypassing, hence low pressure and flow.
