I got this nice e-mail from an elderly lady who sold me the basket case C farmall that I just completed a rebuild on and started it for the first time. I sent her a video of the rebuild process and first-start. Her husband, who farmed with the tractor passed away a number of years ago and the abandoned farm house, etc., later burned down, leaving only a crusty old tractor behind. Her letter made the rebuild even more gratifying than it already was. Thought you all would enjoy it, too:

Tony,
What a wonderful job you did on the Farmall !

Now I have some history to show my kids and grandkids on what their dad / grandpa had to use on the farm. The story and video will be great for the family genealogy I am working on. I love finding genealogy like you love fixing up tractors.

Now I can show them all, that info on their family back in the olden times AND an old tractor made new can be useful !

I think of the time and effort you did to bring the tractor back to life and I appreciate it very much.

Actually it's amazing what you did ! I enjoyed the video and am sending it on to my 5 daughters and only son. I know they will love it too.

Thanks,
Mary

I will definately share the video, but I want to make a few additions to it before I post. There are a few cosmetic issues I need to finish before the tractor is truely finished. You can see before photos at the website below.

Hail Purdue Tony--fantastic job! Even better, the fact that you put together the video makes it even more special for the family. Growing up on the dairy farm there in Martinsville, we have very few pictures and what we do have are worth a mint! I know they must be over the moon!! Keep up the GREAT work! Steve, AgEd '66,'74

Thanks, Steve. Always good to know another Boilermaker and Indiana native. I know what you mean about photos. I have gotten better at trying to take more. It doesn't seem worth it at the time, but as time passes, they become invaluable! What did you do with your AgEd degree? Are you a teacher?

Tony (Ph.D. FNR '97)

Tony--oddly enough I never did teach although got both BS and MS in AgEd! I joined the Army in 1967 and didn't take the uniform off till 1998! When I retired from Active Duty, I was hired back as a member of the Army Senior Executive Service. Hung that one up last October after 10 years and am now fully "retired" and living on our 48 acres in Tennessee! Now have a barn full--a 1953 Super M, 1948 Farmall H, 1949 Farmall C, 1947 Farmall Cub, 1950 Farmall Cub, 1953 Ford Jubilee, 1948 Ford 8N, and a 1952 Ford 8N--which is literally in a gazillion pieces! Never a dull moment! Thanks again for the wonderful gift to that family--I know they surely appreciate it! Steve
