my cub (6 volt) keeps blowing light fuses. I have a 30 amp fuse in there and it blows them out when ever i have go to high beam. they will not blow in the low beam position however. im thinking that i have a dead short somewhere? or bad switch? any thoughts

thanks

Andrew

The switch could be bad, but not very "first look" likely.
The lights have only two paths for electricity to follow. one through the dimmer resistor, and the other direct. So what ever it is is happening in both. Take out one light bulb at a time to see if that eliminates the issue. Looking carefully at each housing will also locate short potential. JimN

My question is , does it actually blow the fuse or melt the end connections. Often times a fuse holder will lose it's tension and or also have corroded contacts which will cause fuse to get hot and melt rather than actually blow as a short circiut for overload would do. If it takes a little while to burn out and fuse is hot your holder is problem. Just something to look for as it is very common. Fuses should always run cool.
