Framall 600 DIESEL RICE SPECIAL

HI there my son and i are looking at a 600 diesel rice special and it has a hand clutch and we where wondering if it's rare. we have looked all over the internet for information but have found none if anyone has any ifno please let us know or if you could steer us in the right direction.
Thanks Jim Degenhardt

I dont know very much about them either but the 600 was only made in 56 and veryyy early 57. according to the data book only 1516 made total. it doesnt say how wany were rice or even how many were internationals (industrial)

There was no seperate "Rice Field Special" model of the 600 or 650 series. However, all of the features of the WR, WDR, SWDR, and WR-9S tractors could be ordered on the 600 and 650 tractors as options. The main options would be; F-1 front tires, R-2 rear tires, hand clutch, foot decellerator, and full coverage (flat topped curved) fenders. If yours has all of these it is still just a 600, but is equivilent to the previous "Rice Field Specials" but without the seperate serial number/model designation.

As Rustred pointed out, the 600 is not a Farmall. All Farmalls were row crop tractors. The 600 is not extremely rare but is not real common because it was only made for approximately one year. The hand clutch was probably the most common option on the 600 series tractors.

Thanks Harold i really appericate this info my son and i where informed that this was a rice special and that it is quite rare. the owner is asking $5500 he said he would get it runnig it's all straight as far as tin and fenders fo but it needs some TLC is $5500 even ball park what this tractor is worth my son and i where thinking $3500 or less beacuse that's what all the WD 9's and 6's are going for.

Jim, I really can't advise you on the price as I have nothing to compare it to. Depends on condition, location, and how bad you want it. However, it sounds kind of high to me.

600 aren t that easy to come by, and with those option, its a good deal, i have a 600 gas and have turned down far more than that for it, buy it before some one else does

600 gas tractors are in a league of their own. Some have told me that less than 30 were made. Others have said less than 100. You can't compare gas and diesel 600's in term of price.

I think the seller is asking too much. Running 600-650 tractors at auction can be had for $1500-2000. Your mileage may vary.

Keep in mind that this 600 is a diesel and is NOT running at this point.

$5500 is too much for a non-running 600.

If this guy is a tractor jockey, his idea of running is, the engine pops a couple times as you drag it down the road.

For $5500, it darned well better start by turning the key. It darned well better purr like a kitten on gas, switch over to diesel, and tick over like a sewing machine... There could still be a lot wrong with the engine even then.

the one i put in the photo spotlight was 2500 and i saw another one sell for 2800, so yes thats pretty rediculous price.

were the ones you seen sell hand clutches, with the rice options? i know there were 21? gas made, so how many diesels with the rice option could there have been made? i ll bet there wasn t a whole lot, its simply, if you don t want to spend that much, then don t, iv been on both sides of this, everybody wants something cheap, and this is an unusual tractor, its defenatly worth more than 3000$
