H/I4 water pump

I was told that NAPA could provide a water pump gasket for my I4. The lady at NAPA told me I would have to have the Part number. SHe did not have time to look in her book for it. Does anyone know th part number of this gasket. I do not have a Case IH dealer near me.
Thanks

I'd recommend going to another parts house. If she doesn't have the time to make a sale, then she also doesn't have the desire to make a sale. You shouldn't have to do their job for them, by finding out a part number, then pay retail prices for the part. Just my opinion.

Good answer Jason. I could use you as a sidekick.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a hydraulic shop that I rarely go to. Outside, the owner and his son were cutting up pallets. I had my IH parts book in hand and opened to the hydraulic cylinder page. The son and I assumed our respective sides of the counter.

I needed half a dozen O-rings. IH had kindly given the dimensions of each O-ring I needed and I had put a check mark on each item.

The kid scanned the page for about 10 seconds and said "You will have to leave the book and come back later. I can't do this right now".

I told him I was not coming back later because I was never coming back. As I left to get in my truck, I told the father/owner what had just happened. He got ------ and said if I didn't like the service I should buy the business. Damn, I wished I had had a snappy answer. Oh, well.

Hi, Wardner.

I think you gave him the best answer you could, which is buying from his competitors in the future. You also did him a favor (most customers don't) by letting him know why and giving him a chance to correct the situation. The guy just doesn't have enough horsepower between his ears to recognize a customer relations problem even when he gets his nose rubbed in it.

I concluded long ago it's a waste of time to argue with idiots, because they're not smart enough to know when they've lost. It saves me time almost every day! :)

The customer who needs only a handful of O-rings deserves every bit as much time as the customer who may be wanting to purchase a complete engine kit. Any parts man that thinks he doesn't have time to fool around with a small profit sale will soon find that he has ample time to go hunting for new job.

The kicker to this story is that I later went to a truck equipment jobber where I do a fair amount of business. They are not cheap but they do have alot of hydraulic fittings and make hoses. I didn't go there first because I didn't think they would have the 3.5" O-rings. But they did and when they placed them on the counter, the clerk said "We'll get you next time". That is their way of saying "it's on the house".
