I am not sure what the plugs ( about 3/8 flat head screw ) in the distributor and govenor are for in my super c. Can anyone help. Brian.

they are a point to oil/grease the workings. put a zerk fitting in them, however you need to be very careful not to over grease the shaft. there is anouther plug on the other side when it comes out that one you stop. this is what it says to do in the manual. no more than 2 to 4 strokes should be enough.

thank you for the information. Interesting that there aren't fittings where there should be. I wonder when these parts were last lubricated? Brian

Over greasing the bushing in the distributor is not a problem. If you use excess grease it merely comes out the hole on the opposite side. There is no hole in the bushing for the grease to reach the shaft but rather you are putting the grease on the outside of the bushing where it can be absorbed into the bushing to lube the shaft.

If you over grease the front zerk, the one that lubes then reduction gears, grease can be forced through the inside of the distributor shaft bushing and get inside the distributor housing and get on the points.

Those were originally made for adding oil once a year or so to keep the bronze bushings lubed. The casting is made with a reservoir in it for oil. Don't need grease in them unless it's on a stationary engine that is going to run for days on end 24/7. Some greases aren't going to lube the bushing like it should be either.
