I am still working on my 1952 super c did they or was it ever an option to have a rear taillight with the red bullet on top or was that on the earlier models ?? The reason I am asking is because I have a perfect original I am debating about putting on the super c .

thanks Dustin IL

My Owner's Manual shows only the combination type, with the small red bezel in the reflector inside the usual Guide light teardrop.

The Parts Catalog shows both that type and the type you describe, so I'd hazard you'd have a leg to stand on if the correct police pull you over. Whether it's just because you have it or because you like the looks of it over the combination type, I say put it on.

I actually have 2 with the internal red lense and 1 with the bullet. I just didnt want get pulled over for not being correct but I will say the one with the bullet is much sharper looking in my opinion.

I had a 52, and it did not have what you mentioned. It only had the rear work light. Mine was as original as you could get. It sat for nearly 50 years without use.

Dave sounds like that super c should not be worn out if it was in dry storage !!

It was like new except for the paint. It sat outside for about 10 years, and one of the rear tires showed signs of weather checking where the sun shined the hardest on it. The rims had all the galvanized plating on them. The only thing wrong was the pilot bearing wallowed out because the throwout the early throw-out bearing had that carbon bearing, and it seized up from lack of use. All the cork plugs in the screw holes on the frame were all intact. It came with a sickle mower, and that's all the work it had ever received. The guy bought it to mow the side of his long driveway.
