Have a 715 diesel, inline 6 ( think it is the same as a 560). Used
combine for 1 hour and sputtered to stop. It nw will only turn over
REAL slow. Everthing is disconnected so it is internal to motor.
What is the best guess ( it is not locked - just turns over real hard -
it is not electrical. Spun bearing? broke ring? I am lost as to what
to guess at.

Thanks in advance

Drain the oil and look for metal particles in the oil. Are you sure your battery and cables are in good shape and all connections are clean and shiny including where the battery is grounded? Hal

New batteries, cables, solenoied and starter bench checked. I originally thought that was it but it is not. Isolated motor from everything (ie removed all belts). tried to turn over by hand and can barely move.

thanks for the reply. Oh yea, have not drained oil but checked level and it is ok.

those 301 diesels sometimes spin the bearings. usually #5 rod.sometimes break the crank. hopefully its not that.
