IH 91 combine

Sorry if this was the wrong place to post this but I was wondering if anyone out there has, or have used an IH 91 combine. I saw on for sale in the paper for $500. It says it has a 10ft header and runs good. I have not talked to the person yet. But what are some things to look out for on these models. I would like to use it for maybe 10 acres total. some oats and buck wheat and maybe some soybeans. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Get the operators manual so you have the settings to harvest your different crops.

Need lube diagraph.

Check augers, elevators, etc for wear.

The 91 is unique in it's planetary (lever) steering- not necessarly a bad thing, just takes some getting used to. We had a 91 and a conventional steer 93, both Bean Specials, and the 91 was handy for spinning around into the next bean windrow. Setup and adjustments are pretty easy, make sure you get any extra parts he has for it, cylinder sprockets, etc. Check the steering and reversing, make sure it all works correctly

I had an IH 91 several years ago. It worked good on small acreage. My biggest complaint was that if I plugged the machine I couldn't get off the spot unless I got it unplugged. Granted the combine needed to be cleared, but if I wanted to take it back to my shed to work on it, I couldn't. Check the combine on a steep grade to see if there is any slippage.

just take the cylinder chain off, half a minute and drive away.take it off if running down the road also much easier on the ears.
