Farmall BN engine

My neighbor just got a BN that has a dipstick on the engine. It also has the usual level plugs on the oil pan. I have not seen one before like this. Is this a replacement block of some sort? I'm not too much on an IH guy, but thought this was unusual.
Thanks,
Paul

I suppose it could be but there are modifications on a lot of old tractors that people made to so that it was easier for them. Check the engine serial number near the #1 plug and compare it with the tag.

Or it could be like my B had the engine replaced completely mine has a 48 SA engine, 50 / 60 years later most guys don't care if its a B / A or C engine, mine also has the oil dipstick.
