Truck tires on a F Cub

It's not easy finding used turf tires for a cub around my neck of the woods.
I visited my local farm tire shop and he had a pile of truck and ags. He was out and about so I couldn't discuss it with him.
I got to looking at some of the good used truck tires and thought maybe they would serve the same purpose as turfs for the cub if they would fit.
Anyone ever done this?

I have seen it done a time or two, and there were 2 problmes, but if you don't mind them, you will be ok.
first problem is they will have very little traction due to the lighter weight of the tractor, though depending on slope of ground, etc. that may not be a problem.
2nd, and maybe the worst problem is that due to the stiffness of the sidewalls they will have no give so the ride will be extremely rough if your mowing are is anything less than absolutely smooth. The flexing of the sidewall on a tractor tire absorbs a lot more bumps than most people realize.

I'm not that familiar with Cubs, but aren't the tires 24". The truck tires are only 20", or i'm not aware of any 24".

In my travels i have seen some with replaced truck type tires. Your CUB has 24 in rims and finding tires to fit the rims wont be easy.

Dellbertt,

Finding good used tires, PERIOD, is never easy. It's even worse now that times are tough for many people and new tires have gotten so expensive.

Good luck finding 24" truck tires too. Common sizes these days are 19.5", 22.5" and 24.5", and it's been like that for probably 20 years now. Frankly I don't know if there have been any trucks with real 24" tires since the 1940s.

If you know anyone in the hip-hop culture, or a car customizer, you might be able to get your hands on a pair of low-profile 24" tires from a low rider or something.

Look what I found in the photo ads:

I doubt you can get the tires on the Cub rims, but you could weld loops to the split rims and bolt them to the Cub.

Good find! I have a good set of ags tho. I need some turfs.
My ags are like new (except one has a tore bead:(

Where are you located? I have a pair I may be willing to swap.
