I just looked at a 1456 today and while test driving, i could not get it to go into low range. It felt like it would partially go in but then pop right out. The linkage seems really worn, but i was wondering if this is a common problem on these tractors or if its more then just a linkage probem. All the gears in high range seem to work and shift well. Thanks in advance! |

| I have a 856, samething, it might be just what happened on mine. On top of the shifter cover there is a coupling that has roll pins thru it and they wear out alonge with the holes and will not turn the shaft enough so will not go into gear all the way. If you take the battery off on the right side, you can see the coupling move when standing on the ground and moving the gear shift leaver. I had mine fixed a few years back because it was doing the exact samething. |

| Yes that is a commen problem. I have a 1256, which is the just about the same tractor, and it does the exact same thing.I think it is just realy realy worn linkage. It also has hydrolic problems too. Good strong runners. The DT-407 has alot of guts behind it. one brute of a tractor in my book |
