In a moment of weakness I bought this old SA. One of the rear wheels is a stamped disc with a 2 inch thick spacer on the outside of the wheel . the othere is a cast wheel about as thick as the spacer on the other side. Is this stock , or just a poor repair with junkyard parts ??? Also , shouldn't this model have a water pump ??

That is the way they were made, the left wheel is stamped sheet steel the right is cast iron. Helps balance the tractor (the engine is on the left side).

Athol's spot on about the wheels. That was a very common arrangement.

As far as the water pump, it was only on the SuperA-1 that they used the 123 motor (basically the same as the SuperC) with the water pump as standard. On the 113 used in the Super A, it was a thermosiphon system and no thermostat.

I'm pretty sure there's room in the front casting of an A to bolt a water pump on -- it bolts up the same as the plain cast inlet. It requires a longer belt, and a different arm for adjusting the tension on the generator. Teh upper outlet neck won't have any provision for holding a thermostat in place for use with a pump, so it takes some hunting and fiddling to find inserts that will fit to accomplish that.

The old girls ran fine for years without the pumps. The fans on them are high volume for what the motor is and they'll run all day working hard without overheating. If your ever hear one working from a distance, you'll be hearing the fan, not the exhaust.

Thanks guys...I don't want a water pump , just something else to go wrong !! It was just a matter of ID'ing the tractor.
