IH 254 utility 4WD

I've been looking for a small tractor to use to pull our horse arena riding surface conditioner, 8 ft wide and pretty heavy. Been doing it with a 300 Utility but don't have good turning traction and have to ride the turning brake real hard to make corners plus the hydraulics work pretty hard lifting the conditioner. Would something this size be too small and how good a tractor is it? Saw one recently for sale close by.

Thanks for the information.

The fairgrounds I worked for had a couple Internationals they used to drag and water the arenas among other things. One was a 484, which was pretty nice, but what I found driving that one was it didnt turn quites as tight as the other one they had which was a 424. That one I really liked because you could turn nice and tight and I was just more used to driving it. As for a 254 I cannot really help you much as I have never used one, but as you mentioned, I dont know that it would be able to pick up your surface conditioner, Im sure it has the pressure, the weight up front to counter it on the other hand I dont know. Personally Id say look at slightly newer utilitys such as the 424, 444, 454, etc, Just cause they always worked nice for us and they are about the same class or little higher than the 300U.

-My two cents.
