RPM's on a Farmall Diesel 460

She runs really good and turns out about 1800 at full throttle. What can I do to get a few hundred more? Anything with the pump?

1800 rpm is rated full load speed, 1965 rpm is max idle no load. Just make sure throttle linkage is pulling lever to stop screw. Not unusual for linkage to get sloppy and not move lever all the way. Pretty simple to adjust screw a bit on the pump if necessary.

I am not sure about the 460 but I put a 660 governor spring in my 656 and it did get the rpms up a bit, i need to tune the auto advance a little more as its a little goofy topped out but really even on the implements that i need the power for some reason i don't keep it cranked the whole way. I think it is snappier though. i think that spring will take it from 1800 to 22 or 2400

You can go nuts with the speed,I have mine flying at 3000 rpms no load. But I am the only operator,if a rookie ran it they toss a rod,but common sense sets the throttle.Scott

I do not know if my Farmall 504 is above spec or not. It sounds like a banshee when floored and the tach pegs out around 3000 rpm. This is a D-188 engine.
