Super C Noise in Cold Weather

It"s my first winter owning my Super C and the other morning when I started the tractor up I heard a "whirling" when the tractor was at idle with the clutch engaged. It was 36 degrees which was the coldest I have started it up. When I pushed the clutch pedal down, the noise stopped. I didn"t advance the throttle at all. I just wanted to start the tractor up and let it run for awhile. Any ideas on what the noise is and what I can do to repair it? Thanks in advance!

sounds like a bearing in the rearend, actually the constant mesh gear bearings. nothing to much to worrie about alot of them make a sounds after 50 years! if its really loud or graiding then i would take a look in there if not then dont worrie about it. make sure gear oil is full or change for the matter if it has not been done in some time.
