I couldn't find any thin copper washers. The best I could come up with is the 5/16th flat washer on the right. On the left is the split washer I was using.

Which should I go with?

Find the smallest flat washer that will fit the bolt. It will be smaller than 5/16", and then apply a dab of that silicon gasket maker to each side of the washer. After the silicon sets up and the bolts are snugged down, just clean off the excess silicon and you're good to go.

Thanks,

But a kit that size is overkill. I'll check some automotive places locally. I haven't tried them yet.

The link I just posted seems to work only in classic view. Here's the URL in case you're in modern view:

Hi, Mike.

I don't know if this will help, but you may want to take a look.

If they have to squeeze and help form a seal, don't buy the assortment from Harbor Freight. When you get them, they say for electric and seem to e copper plated steel.

The OEM part number for the STEEL washers was 28950D.

The measure dimensions for that part number can be found in an old thread on YT.

I'll check Ron. I just checked a couple hardware places. These washers are for the bolts and nuts that hold on the water jacket cover on my '44 H.

Neither one.

I'll have to remove one of mine and take pictures
and measurements. The washer is thin and barely
noticeable. Or I could send you some from a 400
block. I think they are the same as a H.

I wonder how much they would fetch on eBay? Ten
bucks each?

Haven't been following lately to see what Mike's washers here are going on, but a thought is that copper washers are commonly available at auto parts stores to be used as seals where the brake line connects to disc brake calipers. Maybe they'd work in this case?
