Greeting from Down Under Australia and needing guidance.
Could somebody with some expert knowlege tell me if the engines in Farmall MD (D248 I think ) is the same engine as in old model TD6 crawler(Series 6 Engine)Both are gasoline start diesel run.
I have engine from TD6 serial No TDBK 29959 and want to order complete comprehensive re build kit on line out USA but unsure. Long way to post the wrong parts.Specs look and read the same and pictures I have seen look the same with engines in Farmalls and WD6's.
This engine I have has IH single plunger pump and 1943 vintage
Bore Size 3 7/8" Stroke 5 1/4"
Sleeve 10 1/2"long Wrist Pin 1 5/16" Dia
Any information on where to get a good quality rebuild kit or confirmation greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I believe those engines are the same, with the exception of the engine front cover, and that is because of how the engines are mounted in the chassis. The front covers will interchange.

Technically, they are both the series 6 engine. As they were placed into various machines small external differences were employed at times, but those things are easily transferred. Some stuff like the rear mounting plate is different to accommodate the starter facing the other way etc, and the fuel filter package may have to be swapped. Thinking about it, I'm not sure the front plate is different, not that it matters in your case.

Anyways, either the 3 7/8 or 4 inch kits will be fine. They are dry sleeve too. No O-rings to mess with.
