Fixing gas tank

The gas tank on my new F20 restoration leaks right around the sediment bowl. Someone had brazed the sediment bowl right into the tank so there's no way to unscrew it. I've patched it twice and it held for a while but now it's leaking again right through the metal (or what's left of it) I'm thinking of just getting another (better) tank, but I hate to discard something that might be salvaged. Just wondering what anyone else's thoughts on this might be.

Soldering a reinforcement patch on the tank will work. The job requires very clean metal, (removing the exsting braze until flat to tank) and a nice well fitting patch, but it would look pretty good. Definitely an off the tractor task, with safe practices in use. JimN

I had a similar issue with a H tank. Bad threads and leaking. We ended up cutting a 4" square piece out. We took the replacement 4" new piece of metal and welded in a 3/8" pipe coupling in the center. I had a professional welder do the work and by the time we primered and painted it it worked perfect and looked good.
Be safe! The original cut was made with the tank inverted and almost full of water.
