Hi Guys,

I working on a 53 Stage 1 Super H. The starter has been replaced with one that has a threaded stud to hook the battery cable to. It also had a cobbled up relay with keyed ignition switch. I want to convert the starter back to the original with the saddle type starter switch. What is involved in that?
The foot start lever is still on the tractor but the rod is gone. I should be able to fab one up but would rather have an original one. Any body have one or a source for one?

Does the starter you have have the threaded holes for the starter switch?

If so, the threaded stud can simply be replaced with one with the contact on top for the starter-mounted switch. The stud will need to be soldered to the copper buss bars... a job for a HEAVY soldering copper and some experience.

It SHOULD even be possible to exchange the stud and drill and tap 2 holes for the switch, saving the expense of a different starter.
