Hello : My Brother has just psssed away and he wanted me to have his I-4 IH . It looks as if it will need a starter and draw bar , can any one help ? also can you adapt a bush hog to these tractors there is a cover plate over the pto aera .thanks Bill M.
 
Does the I-4 have a pental type hitch or no draw bar at all? A PTO can be added. It takes the same PTO that fits a Farmall H. A Farmall H starter should also fit. If it has a belt pulley, you will have to temporarly remove the belt pulley housing to mount the starter. You will have to use a pull type bush hog as nobody makes a 3 point hitch for the I-4.

Thank you for the info on the I-4 , have you any sources for the hitch components, I will try to find the starter however the pto might become a challenge Thanks in advance Bill M.
 
OEM Tractor Parts (www.oemtractorparts.com) makes drawbars for IH tractors. You could give them a try...
 
OEM does not have a I-4 drawbar. The I-6/W-6 drawbar will work but is thicker than the I-4/W-4 regular drawbar. The PTO and starter shouild not be hard to find at a tractor salvage yard. Does yours have the pintal hitch. If so I would probably be interested in the pental hitch. On the PTO, early PTO's were different and you didn't state your year model.If both your tractor and the donar H are after 1943 the PTO should work.
