How to best install studs?

I haveto reinstall the manifold studs, and then 2 of the water jacket studs when I get the broke one out. What is the best way to get them in there tight without hurting the threads?

Jam a couble of nuts together on the outside and and use the one on the outside to turn 'em in. Un-jam nuts. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Exactly, jam a couple nuts together and use the outside one to tighten them down.

Well, it was gonna be that or vertically on 16" centers. ;8^)

Clean the threads well making sure they are good then chase the threads in the head with a bottoming tap blow with air use some lube and they wil tthread in by hand.

Craftsman makes a stud removal and installing tool cousts about $12.00 great tool.

I Hate laptops can't type very well on one. Tool costs $12.00 at Sears.

I used the jammed nut trick, and it worked like a charm for the stud I installed today. I'll use it for the others when it's time.

You probably read my woes about breaking a stud, and then the thread tap in the hole. So it may be a bit. :?
