Plow identification

Sorry I don't know how to take a photo from the tractor photos on this site and add it to this forum but would like to know if you guys agree this plow is a 312. I think it has bigger bottoms on it than 12" unless that isn't what the 12 means! Its listed under 1961 Farmall 560 and fredmich. Also would love to get a owner/operator manual for it. Thanks so much....Fred

Find your picture and click on it. You will see
the pic website below your picture. It will start with http://www.

Copy that down and then type it into the space known as the " Optional Image URL" and your pic should post. I couldn't find the pic or I would've posted it. Hal

Is this it.

Did you put this in the Optional Image URL?

Can't be sure looking at the picture but it looks like a 312. 312 is the model #, plow size is determined from the distance apart the bottoms are measuring crossways or by measuring the distance plow beams are apart. 12, 14, 16 etc.

ih made your plow in the series with the 412 (4 bottom) and 512 (5bottom). those were ih's first attempt at a semi mount plow.
more common and made at the same time was 211(2bottom), 311 (3bottom), 411 (4 bottom), and (i think) also 511 (5 bottom) fast hitch plows. these were the same as yours, but without the tail wheel. the problem was the bigger plows were straining the capacity of the hitch without having some extra support on the back of the plow.
i think the 312 is relatively more scarce than the 412s and 512s.
