Hello,
I bought a John Deere 60 parts tractor that had it's sheetmetal get caught up in the paint booth with some Farmall sheetmetal. I think an M Farmall but not sure. In sorting out the pieces, I can find all the JD parts but this one has me puzzled or ignorant one or the other. Thanks for any help. Paul in Mississippi

It's a exhaust manifold heat shield. There are two sizes. One for H and one for M. I am guessing it is an H which will make MikeCA happy. He needs one. Give us some measurements.

Welcome Paul,

That looks like an M heat shield, but I hope I'm wrong. If it's an H, Wardner is right, it would find a very happy home on my restoration project.

If you could measure out that gap, I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks for all who answered. I have been away from my pc and just now back and can read the replies. I will measure it as sunday or monday and get back to here. I do want to sell it and have no idea how to price it. I know I opening myself up here but I am open to suggestions on pricing, thanks again, Paul

It's worth $.50, but I'll give you a $1, since you were nice enough to bring it to us. :D

Ok, seriously, in good shape they can get around $100 on Ebay. Which is my problem. I need the piece, but can't afford it. I'd buy it from you, but have other priorities.

I'm told the M shields are worth more than H shields, but since I don't follow M stuff, I don't know for sure.

Good luck with it. The most I could give right now would be $20, which bums me out. :?

Thanks Mike, its late here in central time so I will be going soon.......but if they are that hard to come by maybe I should try to fabricate some to sell. I operate a machine shop-fabricating shop and do some hand bending/weld/grind oddball things in my work. This could be a pattern to measure. The cotton gin where this 60 came from had two old M Farmalls still sitting there so most likely that is what it will turn out to be. The old tractors used to pull the cotton trailers around the gin lot and up to the suck pipe stand. That won't help me with an H pattern much though. I probably won't try to push for the high dollar, just a decent price. Monday is probably as soon as I will be able to get out there to measure it and I will get back on here. Thanks again, Paul

Paul, if you could, that would be fantastic! I can't help you with measurements of the H, but I can take measurements off my manifold, and you could go from there. I'm sure some other guys could measure their H shields to help with that.

I'd be willing to give a first run a shot to see how it goes. I've also got a lot of pictures of some hanging on the H, and just bare, you can use as referrence. The H and the M shields look the same.
