I have an A that has started missing on one cylinder. There is spark at the spark plug, I took the valve cover off and the valves for the cylinder (number 3 I think, 3rd one from the front)are moving. (I thought it might be a stuck valve but the necks are moving about the same distance as the other working cylinders.)
Unsure what else to look at. Is it possible that one of the ports for that cylinder could be plugged with something????
The tractor runs the same wether that cylinder has a plug wire to it or not so something is up with that cylinder.

Have you checked the compression in that cylinder? you may have a bad valve.

Just because the valves open and close does not mean they gap is correct and that needs to be checked and or adjusted. Also just because a plug has spark does not mean it will fire like it should in the cylinder. I would check the valve tappet gap since you have the valve cover off any how and also try a new plug in that cylinder. I might also swap a plug wire from one of the other cylinders and see if the miss follows the plug wire, oh and you can do that with the plug also

THere's exceptions, but no change after pulling a plug wire only confirms that spark is or is part of the problem. If the old plug is badly fouled but the new plug improves things, then there may still be something to look at as a source for the fouling.

First try changing that plug.

I would try a different plug or swap one from a working cylinder. Then make sure the valves are closing for that cylinder by checking the tappet clearance.

If nothing has shown up by that time, you should run a compression test on that cylinder. You can rent a tester at an auto parts store.

I doubt if something is plugged leading to just that cylinder.
