I've been offered this 240 Utility recently imported from the US into Britain.
What are they like? Good, bad, rare, value?

I 've had one that I restored 2 years ago and I'm planning to have it buried w/me when I kick off. Only made fron '58-'62, close to 30 hp. My neighbors call it "The Beast" Cause I've out scooped,out pushed,out pulled anything they've got.(at least in the same HP class).A very fine piece of Iron if I do say so myself!The only Bad thing I can say about them is parts are getting scarce,not impossible,but scarce...and yours looks great!
 
The rear 3 point does not go up & down sometimes.
The owner says "sticking hydraulic valve" which is on the left hand side in valve chest.
Its the only one been imported into Britain - asking price $4000 - any comments.
 
Well it looks like its got every goodie on it known to man, and you may have the only one exsisting in the UK! $4000 is a little steep, but as in good shape as it seems to be and maybe the only one in the Shire??? A definite conversation piece and a good worker. IH Built some Tractors over in Britain and they all had a "B" designator in front of them(B275) comes to mind but I dont think they ever made a 240U. And I am not an expert on IH/UK History.But there are more than a few on this site. I say You may have a good deal but don't forget to negotiate ! :D
 
Real nice and unique tractor and thanks for staying away from the really wide photos.
I saved the photos and brightened them up a bit and it looks like quite a bit of leakage on both the left and right side.
Looks like there was some kind of fluid coming down onto both sides of front axle.
All in all in looks like a nice tractor. All depends on how it runs.
I would still negotiate some, around here that is just expected.
