Farmall M info

New to red tractor and had some question.

1. What is the gear speed of 1st gear on a Super MTA with the the TA on the low side.

2. What is the weight of a super M with a wide front.

Thanks for the help. Also any advice on what to look for on a super M when buying one.

Apart from manual collectors, I don't know many folks who run out and get the manuals for every tractor they consider buying. On the off chance that the man hasn't bought the tractor yet and is trying to determine a) if it's even suited to his needs and b) what arrangements/equipment might be in order to get it home if he should buy it, "Get a manual," doesn't seem at all helpful at this point.

No idea about the speeds.

As far as weight, A Super M came in at a little over 5000#. Figure another couple hundred for the wide front, plus any weights or ballast, it could be pushed up to three ton or more.

SMTA 5500+, SM maybe 4-500 less (I do not know the weight of the TA and cast housing on the SMTA), weight also depends on wheel weights and loaded tires. May go as high as 7000 or more. 1st TA is about 1.625, assuming 13.6-38 tires, varies with tire size.

Duh, please direct us to the page at external_link with a weight specific to an SMTA or, better, ground speeds with or without a TA.

Click the link below for a post that gives gear tooth counts, ratios, and speeds for M, SM, SMTA, 400-450, 560, 660.
