Is this knob original?

Someone mentioned to me that war tractors may have come with a steel knob on the rear light, vice the plastic knurled knob. Is this is? If so, where could a fella find a knob like that?

That's a picture I found on Ebay. I'm fixing up my combo tail light, and want to replace the knob while it's off, if need be.
 
I don't think this type switch was used until sometime after the war. Possibably 1950 and newer.
 
that light would be used on the 300 and up before that like sm and sh and late h's and m's had a plastic knob and a regular h would have a normal rear light unless special order so that light you have would be wrong for your h.
