560 turbo diesel

Has anyone ever had one? Has anyone ever converted a non to one with a turbo. What manifold can I use? how do you alter the hood? Have never done this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I put a turbo on my old 560 some years back, don't have the tractor anymore and also on a 706 that I once owned. M&W made a kit for the D282 motor and I seen one on ebay a few days ago. I set mine up just like the M&W but made the parts myself because I use to work in a machine shop. I used the orignal manifold just took out the pipe and made me a plate with the bolt hole pattern as the turbo welding onto the manifold but you have to set the turbo crossways on thoes motors with the intake faceing to the left side of the tractor. I also took off the oil bath air cleaner and got one off a 656 that mounts on the front of the motor and put a pipe thru the hood with the breather cap like on a 1206. I took picturs of it after I finished it but will not be home untill this weekend but can try to post them if you like when I get back home. You also have to put a nipple in the timing cover, I brazed one in a 90 deg. for the oil return hose and a tee in the oil sending unit for the oil supply line. The best thing to do is see if you can find pictures of a M&W set up that will help a lot. I also used a 3" straight pipe that made it sound good. I had mine running about 80hp

We had one of the very last 560"s with the field turbo kit when I was a kid. Was different than the M&W kit. Exhaust came out the original hole. Dad HATED the dry air cleaner up on the cowl and him and went to great lenghts to get it buried under the hood. 20 years after it was gone I came to realize what we had. Would certainly love to have one like it now.

Rick. That was a IH factory turbo kit. I have never seen pictures of thoes and have tried to find info on them. I read they came with a dry airfilter but did not know they mounted on top and also came with a straight pipe. Did they use a different exhaust manifold and which direction did the turbo set?

To be honest Larry I just cant remember. I've seen a few pictures if them since. Had no idea we had such future collectors item at the time. Ours also had factory pressed rear rims.

big kahuna, go to ebay and look up item # 390110205073. It is a installation and parts manual for the turbo setup on the D282 motor. That should give you pictures and instructions on what you are needing.
