full throttle

Gents,
Got the engine back in my M. For some reason the timing was 180 degrees off, but we got that figured out and the engine seems to run well. One major problem though. I can"t seem to let it run more than about two seconds because the engine revs out of control. It revs up, very very high. I"m not sure how high, because I turned it off, but it sounded like well over factory rpm. Anyway, getting ready to take a look at the governor and try to make sure the butterfly isn"t stuck. Haven"t changed anything in the gov or carb during the rebuild......Throttle does absolutely nothing, any ideas?

For the outrageous amount of money you paid for the rebuild it comes back 108 out and the gov/carb/linkage is messed up?
I would stop payment on the check until that machine is 100% right and purring like a kitten.

Yeah, Its pathetic. I'm very angry, For $2500 it should definately be purring. Oh, the water jacket they put on is leaking too, so I'll have to redo it. No doubt, I got took. They put the wrong oil pressure line fitting on too. There is a laundry list of little things that were undone, or not done properly. For nearly a year and $2500, I'm highly disappointed.

call them and tell them that the engine is not running and they made it into a pos, if they do not fix it you are going to take them to court, then see their responce

When removed, the throttle link to the governor shaft (a tang and slot deal) the tang can come out of the slot. It is where the tube attaches to the top front of the carb!! JimN

A friend paid $1,200 to have the hydraulics rebuilt on his Ford 4000.
When it was brought back to him the original dirt and crud had not been disturbed on the back hydraulic cover plate.
He called the mechanic and told him to come over and see him.
When the mechanic arrived he showed him the tractor had not been touched and said," You can either return my money now or return it in court."
The mechanic got his checkbook out of his truck, wrote the check and left.
I know both of these guys personally, one would lie and the other would not.
I'll let you guess which is which.

It didnt run away from shop? If it did the gov must be more than wore out. I take the gov top off that way you can move the link. We have all done that one!!! I was 14. Man that m would run ,Dad aways called it the panic button!!!

I'm with some of the others and would be checking that motor over carefully, looking for evidence that they did more than paint it.

I would take pictures of all the lousy things and document them with at least one or more witnesses. Talk to a lawyer about pain and suffering during the time involved. Ask for a lot. get you lawyers bill paid and your money back plus some for all the time involved. I'll bet you wouldn'y take that from the A&P or A&E on your cessna. Henry
