I have an Int'l 240 Utility tractor and would like to convert it to 3 point hitch. Just behind the seat there are 3 bolt holes in a triangular shape that appear to be threaded, but are not very deep. Can I use these to build a steel frame for a 3 point hitch setup. What are these holes for.

a while back georgeky posted some pics of this 3 point set up on his 240u. if i remember, it bolted around the rockshaft, used the top 3 bolts and two under the rockshaft. with the fast hitch to 3point prongs, it was a handy little set up.

We bought a 3 point aftermarket kit for our 240U with Fasthitch back in the early 70's that had a modified cover that replaced the cover right above the PTO. That was where the 3 point toplink mounted. Maybe you can find one on ebay or tractor salvage yard?

If it has a Fast-Hitch, there is an adaptor that includes an "A" frame for the top link... just snaps into the F-H. That would be the easiest method. Also if you could find a "junker" that already has a 3-point, IH did make a factory set-up that used some of the same parts and pieces... this is what mine has.

I think there was a factory option for a 3 point. That is what mine has. It fits on where I think others have a 2 point. E-mail is open and I can send some pics if you like.

I have the a-frame setup like shown in this thread on my 240. I also have the correct drawbar that goes on it to pull implements. I use it mostly with a box scraper or rake tedder. it works good for most implements, just not something like most posthole augers or sickle bar mowers which rely on having a top link bracket on the tractor.
