hyd auger use with an M with pics

I recently bought a older (20 years with no decals) hydraulic auger for my gravity wagon.
I have a couple of questions, that hopefully some one can answer for me.

The auger has a hydraulic motor that operates it with a regulating valve mounted on it.
My question is when in use if I shut the valve off on the auger, won't it dead head the belly pump on the Farmall m.
Will the pump check and unload or will it just dead head the pump?

On a more modern tractor, like my 806, they have a hydraulic circuit for this type of operation. Correct?

Thank you for the input,
Joe

Your regulating valve is probably a flow control
valve. Excess volume is "short circuited" back to
the reservoir or another circuit. The valve may
also have an inlet pressure relief feature. Put up
a picture and we might be able to identify it.

The auger motor valve should have a bypass, basically what Wardner said. It will NOT deadhead the pump.

Just to be safe, try it and see what happens... There's a relief valve in the belly pump to protect it from deadheading. Connect up the auger and pull the belly pump lever. If it starts squealing then it's not bypassing properly.

On an 806, the power beyond is an aftermarket part, not something that comes with the tractor.

Isn't that a local control (bypass) to control the auger from the ground without having to get up on the tractor?

Yes, it is. You can control the auger from the end. If you look in the farmall forum you will see another post about this subject.

I do believe wardner has clarified it for me.
