Farmall H Steering Column

My '44 H has what looks to be a triangular shaped riser that extends out of the front steering column where it hooks into the other steering column at the U Joint. Looks as if this triangular piece may have been welded and just worn off, but it appears to make the front shaft fit just into a little slot at the linkage. Any ideas on how to fix this, as I imagine just the screws at the U Joint will not hold the two shafts together.

Thanks

The part you are describing was originally a cast iron hub with an angled flange cast on the end closest to the u-joint. There was a grease fitting in the top of it corresponding with a hole in the hood. It sounds like yours has worn away or been broken at some point. A tractor salvage yard would have a replacement. I was able to re-bush the one on my '51 H to get the slop out along with building up and re-turnng the steering shaft.
