Farmall 300 oil pan torque values

Does anyone know the torque needed for the bolts on the oil pan of a Farmall 300? I plan on replacing the oil pan gasket sometime soon and want to get my ducks in a row.

Also, I believe that two of the rear bolts that hold the oil pan bolt into an aluminum piece. It has been too long since I was in there to say exactly what it is. But when I replaced the gasket the last time this was stripped out and I searched for a new one but could only find one in the bone yard. Has anyone else had this same thing happen to them?

Far as I know there is no value. Use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and get them "snug". Be sure the lip on the pan is flat first and don't distort the gasket or pan. Tighten evenly, perhaps going around 3 or 4 times.

As CNKS said, just snug, but not tight enough to start distorting the gasket. If you see the gasket starting to bulge around the bolts you've gone a hair tight. Also you want to do one bolt on each side, kind of like torqueing a wheel down.

As to your stripped bolt, the only way to replace that aluminium piece is to split the tractor. So your easiest option is to repair the hole with a helicoil kit. You can probably find one at any decent auto parts place. Basically what you'll do is drill the hole out larger, tap it, and install a special insert that will restore the threads to their original dimension.

Thanks Sam. I replaced that aluminum black when I tore the tractor down two years ago. I was just curious to see if anyone else had that problem happen and what they did about it. Thanks for the helicoil kit idea. I think I will stop by the auto parts store and get one just incase.

Thanks CNKS. That is about what did last time. Maybe a little too tight. I will go easy this time and add some oil pan gasket sealer.
