The genny is on

Well, after all the fuss, and trying different ways, what I ended up doing was putting the lower bracket angled down, flipping the upper bracket around so the adjustment slider was at the water pump end (Which required a little bend), and most importantly, I tightened up the pulley to where the belt was almost to the edge, as you can see. I'm hoping it's tight enough. It spins when I turn the fan, and it feels as taught as the other belt, so I'm guessing it is.

Thanks for help for all those that answered my questions.

Looks Good. Sometimes you have to do what works.
I always keep some metal stock on hand to make custom brackets.
Changed alot over to alternators and you just can't go and order a bracket for an engine that never had an alternator in the first place.

now that looks good.just need to get your dist.in the correct position. the wire terminal should be at 3 oclock.need to pull it out and turn 1 tooth.that jumped out at me when you know where things sit. its just another originality thing.

In the not-too-distant future, the distributer will be changed to a mag. So, as long as it works, I'm ok with it.

Mike looks really good, I would switch to a mag to, i like them better for ease of wireing and ease of use once its running they will pretty much stay running

Mike: Don't get it too tight or you'll burn the bearings out of your generator. Owner's manual says you should be able to easily move belt 1/4" without much effort. (Read manual for exact wording) Looks nice.
