Super C Groaning

I started the Super C today and ran it for awhile. It is doing something odd and it may have a serious problem. While idling in neutral, it started groaning loudly and began to move forward some. As it did so, the 3 pt moved up and down a bit. I pushed in on the clutch and let out. This quieted it down temporarily. Had to set the brake when in neutral to keep it from moving forward. What would be the problem? It sounds like the noise is coming from the gear box, but pushing the clutch in does stop it temporarily. It had not been started for about 2 months.

Check the gear box oil first thing. A center bearing could be going out. If it sits for a long time the oil could be drained off of the gears/bearings. If old lube, replace it. JimN

That's what my H did right before the trans completely broke. Ended up that I had a bolt come lose on the Mainshaft, causing the front piolot bearing to wear out due to shaft play. With the shaft play, it allowed for larger than normal tolerances in clearance, and ended up breaking a bunch of teeth off of the Constant Mesh Gear. Just got done rebuilding it. I am not as familiar with how the C/Super C transmission is, compared to the H transmission though.

Dang, this isn"t good. I"ll check the gear box level. If it checks out, it probably needs to be split for repairs.
