IH Wide Front End

Hi Guys,
I'm working on a IH WFE with the tie rods out front. This is obviously an adjustable wheel width front end. I already have all the old bolts and pins out. I destroyed most of those. Fortunatley they are standard nuts and bolts. The question is how do you go about getting the tie rods and the 4" tubing apart without destroying the parts that can't be replaced?

Start with lots of penetrating oil/ rust buster. Soak for a couple of years. Tapping with a 3 pound hammer on the tie rods will help break the rust. On the axle tubes, tapping/ belting it with a large hammer [using discretion, of course] & if still on the tractor, use a wood post with a chain around the spindle to try to twist the sleeved axle tube.

I've seen contraptions where bottle jacks and wooden posts are used to apply outward pressure. Apply heat to the center tube; you'll need a big rosebud torch to be able to get enough of it red hot.

It can be done without destroying it. Just don't destroy it, that's all :) Don't whale away on it with a BFH. Don't heat it so much you melt the steel.
