As seen below, when I installed my oil pan, I put the brace for the oil chamber vent on the INSIDE of the pain gasket. I just noticed this when I was inspecting the oil around the bottom of my '44 H. I'm guessing I installed it wrong, and that the brace should be on the outside of the pan lip? Correct?

So if this is wrong, is it a major disaster that I need to drain the tractor and fix? Or can it wait until I actually plan on pulling that pan off? (When I paint the tractor)

Opps, forgot to attach the photo:

I don't know for sure but you might end up with a leak. It probably take much time to fix it now so I would and save the mess.

Yep! You goofed! :p The clip should be on the outside of the oil pan. You can wait to fix it if you want, but you don't have to drop the oil pan to get the clip out, remove the bolt going through the clip and loosen a few bolts on each side, then remove the two bolts holding the breather pipe to the engine cover, slide pipe out of clip and then remove clip. Should not be more than a 5 or 10 min. job.

If you have a floor jack you could just loosen the bolts and pull it out then squirt some new sealer in the crack or lower the pan enough to apply the sealer on the pan after wiping it off good. If you have some long bolts to use on the 4 corners of the pan, they would keep it from tipping over, and from spilling so you would not have to drain oil.

Oil should not come gushing out unless you put too much in. The oil level should be no higher than the top petcock. You will need to loosen ALL the pan bolts though.
