IH 450 Diesel white smoke on gas cycle

I have an IH 450 Diesel that starts good on gas, switches to diesel fine, and switches back over to gas fine. The problem is it has recently started smoking excessively on the gas cycle; white smoke. It only does this on the gas cycle. I know that white smoke means water is getting in to the coumbustion chamber somehow like thru the head gasket, but, I would think if this is so, it would smoke on both the gas and diesel cycles. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated?

i would say thats diesel, need to check your switch over linkage adjustments. have seen lots of them smoke white on gas start up.

BE SURE THE FUEL THROTTLE IS SHUTTING OFF, TO CHECK GO TO THE INJECTION PUMP AND PUSH THE LEVER TO FAR SHUT OFF.
IF YOU HAVE BLED THE FUEL SYSTEM WITH ENGINE ON GAS, YOU PUSH THOTTLE PARTLY ON AND LETS YOU BLEED SYSTEM, AND YOU WILL GET WHIET SMOKE. JIM
