POP; SuperA pulley

Thanks again guys. I torqued it down hard, gave it some heat all around the outside, gave a hard lick with the hammer and she popped.
Looks like it has timing marks, never saw them on an A or SA. What about that wear groove ? Doesn't look like there is room to double up 2 seals

you can either install a speedy sleeve on the shaft to repair it, or take the pulley to a machine shop and have them machine it down then press a sleeve over it.

Hal and Glennster, OK , I have never used a speedi-sleeve. Will the seal go over the speedi-sleeve alright?
Hmm, I don't have a FES 33-4 Sleeve Instaler.
If you have any additional tips, please post them or email is open.
Thanks
Tim

I might be wrong but as I remenber the speedy sleeve kits I have used and seen the proper instalation sleeve was included as part of the kit but it has been a while since I have used one. Armand

tim, if you go the speedy sleeve route, i clean up the pulley surface with a wire wheel then lightly sand with some emery paper until smooth, you dont want any burrs on it. a lot of the speedy sleeves come with kind of a flange on one end so you can drive it on with a socket, then the flange end peels off the sleeve. i like to toss the pulley in the freezer overnite to shrink it a little, then the next day put the speedy sleeve in the presto fry daddy deep fryer (dont let the missus catch you doing this part) and heat it up for 5 minutes or so. the sleeve will just about drop on the pulley with a minumim effort. after installed, the seal will go right over the speedy sleeve.i use a little gun grease on the seal and on the speedy sleeve so the seal isnt dry when you finally start the motor.

Check with your local Napa store as the seal and sleeve should come as a kit so the sleeve has enough clearance. The installation tool may come with the kit. These speedi-sleeves have been around for a long time and are used in your hydraulic pump if you are getting hydraulic oil into the engine since the seal in there will wear a groove worn from the old seal being brittle from age when item No4 rubs the shaft on item No11. Be sure to leave the timing gear cover bolts loose until you have the damper reinstalled so the hub can center itself within the seal. Then tighten them. Hal
