Wood handled steering wheel spinners?

One thing I distinctly remember about my Grandfather's Farmall was that he had a wooden steering wheel spinner on it. I've been looking to find one, but no luck.

Anyone know a source for one?

About 10 years ago I bought a red stained wooden spinner from a local tractor dealer (since closed). I repainted it IH RED and CLEAR COATED. I'll snap a pic in a minute.

I am using "modern view" now. Just a few minutes ago modern view was not functioning for me, so I went to "classic". I have about a 50-50 chance that modern view will work.

Here are some pics of my "spinner" on a Farmall 504. We call them by other names as well.

Thanks Charles. Yeah, I've heard them called "knuckle busters" too. But like I said, my Grandfather had one, so I want one.

All of my tractors have steering wheel spinner knobs. The tractors that I drove while growing up all had those knobs. If I get on a tractor today that does not have a knob, I'm just lost.

Yeah, or running a tractor when you are a kid with one them blasted wooden knob skin pinchers. Get a modern one made with rubber or plastic, they look better and are less dangerous. But they are not as dangerous as the clip for the wing window on Cousin's Mack semi. That thing just waits for your pinky finger to catch on it while you are looking in the mirrors backing up and "palm spinning" the wheel. Don't let your pinky hang out!:^) #%$* that hurt's!

my M has one. No matter where I mount the dern thing it whacks me hand when i am not paying attention. I swear everytime I am going to take it off all together, but by the time I get back in I forget -- until I whack myself the next time.

The trick is to keep one hand on the knob at all times. Learn to drive the tractor using only the knob for steering. Once you get accustomed to that knob, you'll be lost without it.

Rusty, I have one on my Super C we rake all our hay with and wouldn't be with out it. That is the only tractor I have one on but it is great for doing quick turns with a side delivery rake. I don't feel I need one on any of the other tractors as quick turns are usually not in the plan. Doing a restoration on the Super C this winter and have a new red wooden one I got at the RPRU a couple of years ago. Hal

Started driving my uncles H when I was around 12 or so. Never used a steering wheel knob until I was about 16 or 17, and he finally got one and put it on it. It was kind of weird using at first. Now I'm 20 and still have one on that H, and on my M. I'd be lost without it now.
