super m oil pressure

my super m has about 70-75psi oil pressure when its cold but when it warms up it goes down around 30psi. i have 30w oil in it is this psi normal or should i use a thicker oil

Sounds like worn shaft in oil pump, have replaced many. Of course one has to keep in mind bearings or other internal leaks. Would have to be really bad bearings if oil pressure drops that low at high speed. If at idle speed it would not be a problem. A leak test may be necessary to determine problem. You don't neen any heavier than 30 wt engine oil.

it should maintain the oil pres. with the regulator valve in the oil pump. spring may be weak and need replacing.worn brgs also cause pres. loss when the oil heats up.30w oil is good but if pres. drops that much you could go with 40w.are you checking the oil pres. with a master guage?

30 psi hot is on the low side for a Super M. And as others point out it’s probably from a a combination of worn bearings and a worn/warped oil pump cover.

OTOH unless you need to go inside the engine for something else I wouldn’t be too concerned. I’ve seen Super M run fine for hundreds of hours with only 15 psi showing on the gage at speed, and barely off the pin at idle. Your 30 psi hot should be just fine.

Did you have the crank turned or checked for roundness? Did you replace the oil pump with a new one? No offense, but there's all kinds of rebuilds......

the crank was checked and polished, i took the oil pump apart cleaned everything and put a new gasket in it.
