IH 384 Injection Pump Leak

I have my 384 coming along nicely (I still need the power assist steering cylinder) but I"ve finished th fuel pump, glow plugs and controller. I noticed as it was running I have a fuel leak (fairly steady drip) from the bottom of the injector pump. Its coming from the hydraulic head locating bolt if I remember from two days ago. I have all the manuals and schematics, but nothing tells me what happens if I unscrew either this bolt or the adjacent cam locating bolt to put in a copper washer to stop the leak. Can I do this without fear of the entire machine crumbling to dust???

Hi Bill, try posting your question on the Ferguson tractor forum as the Perkins Diesels used in the MF tractors had the sane CAV injection pump as the 414,434,444 and 384 series tractors.
