WT. of an IH power unit ( pic)

I’m hoping someone might remember the weight of one of these power units. I’m thinking about making them an offer this week end and if I should get lucky I was wondering what I need to haul there to lift it on a trailer
Thanks
Larry

If the engine is the same as an H then it is a U4. M engine size is a U6. W9 engine size is a U9.

If you can look at an M you can make comparisons and figure out what it is.

If it's got an H engine it should have C-152 cast into the block under the spark plugs.

If it's got an M engine, it will be C-248.

If it's got a W9 engine, it will be higher than C-248.

I am pretty sure that it is a C-248/264 (Farmall M, W6, T-6, U-6) engine from looking at that picture. I am pretty sure on an H/4-series engine the top of the oil filter housing sticks over the top of the block-head mating surface because the engine is shorter. The M's block is an inch or two taller, so it is a few inches under. So, it looks like you are looking at a U-6. It isn't a 9-series engine, because they had two separate access covers for the pushrods

The width of the hood looks bigger than an M hood. To me it looks to be a U-9, so I would go with the weight Harold H gave you.
