560 OR 1066

... i finally went and looked at neighbors 560 its gas and has been sitting for 5-6 years in a barn most of the tin work is there... it comes w a belly mount sickle bar and 3 bottom plow for 1,200.00... have no idea if it runs it did when they parked it but there is no batt now all tires look ok??? what dou you guys think worth it??? and also found a 1066 for 8,500.00 in good shape farmer just wants to go newer... waht you think

1066 IS IN GOOD SHAPE... REALY U THINK 560 IS A GOOD DEAL??? I WAS WORRIED BOUT IT BEING SEIZEDE OR HOW IT EVEN RAN... WAHT LEAKEED AND STUFF LIKE THAT

The 560 as described is a good deal. It is a very good deal if the engine is free to turn. Go get the money now if it has compression on all cylinders and needs a tuneup/fuel system clean, and a battery.
As noted the bigger tractor needs much more looking at to be assured that it is not toast. The price points are the difference. JimN

Depends what you're needing the tractor to do for you. Of course the 1066 is a lot bigger horse, but you could do a lot of work on the 560 for the additional $7300 the 1066 would cost you...

k thanks... the big one is in decent that one don't bother me causeits kinda big for me so not sure if i could justify it.. the 560 would be great size wise just worried bout everything sitting so long its all been inside but still been awqhile since things have been moved and iy was used alot by the old guy b4 he died and they parked it.. but he maintaned it

Another hypothetical about tractors. What is your goal for this tractor?

Around here we size the tractor to our needs and what we have: land size, soil type, type of crops raised, equipment size, # of plow bottoms, size of plow bottoms, # of chisel teeth, type of disk, size of disk disks and spacing, hitch type, hitch size, pto speed, hydraulic needs, TA need, transmission type need, loader need, tire size, tire tread depth, fuel type (gas or diesel) and costs, use in the dead of winter or not, etc. Tractor size doesn't help much if you have to buy all new equipment to match.

Alternately, we size it to the width of the street on the parade route.

Then we size the equipment need to the size of our bank account. Easy as pie. If you are rich, buy them both.

Before you spend a few hundred trying to get it into running shape, will he money back guarantee it runs, engine is ok, doesn't burn oil, no water in the oil, tranny is ok, rear end is ok, TA is ok, hydraulic pumps and valves and cylinders are ok, etc? What does the oil, water, & hytran look like? Will he guarantee the same price if you bring your own battery over or pull yours out of your pickup? Somehow you have to load it and get it home.

Answer those questions and somebody here can give you some thoughtful advice.

Mike,

If you don't jump on that 560, please let me know. I think I'm in your general area and I'd be interested.

.... i think i want it... you are in my general area?? ... i also am not rich so both wouldn't happen 2day and tefchnaly i don't need either just can't help myself

Gas engine if it's not stuck tight should not take many $$$ to get it running. For me, that would be the deal breaker. IMO a 560 with the implements for $1200 and not stuck would be a real good deal.

You are asking for a lot of guarantee for a 1200 dollar tractor. If it runs, no cracked block, the tires are usable, hyd works, it,s a deal at 1200.

Put it in high gear, with the TA lever forward, and rock the tractor dramatically backwards and forwards. The fan should move substantially. JimN
