This weekend while drilling wheat the belly pump on my M started knocking when turned on. Any time you engage the pump it knocks. Either when using the hydraulics or not.

It is full of oil and works fine. Without the lever pulled back. No noise. The coupler looks ok.

Are there parts to fix these pumps or should I just look for another?

I'll be combining soys today so I will not be around the computer until tommorrow. Any input would be helpfull.

If it is working, I would leave it alone. Change the oil, or filter the existing oil if it is pretty new, through cheese cloth. It probably chipped a tooth from a piece of solid material getting between the gears. It will not get better, but I would use it unless it gets very noisy. Be on the prowl for a different pump in the meantime. JimN

Often times the spring in pump breaks going through the gears, not good, but you will feel a definete difference on the lever if it broke. Don't over look loose bolts holding pump in and as the transmission counter shaft is what drives pump you could have a trans bearing or gear problem so if and when you do get time to drop pump, see if noise is gone with out pump in . As long as pump still works good and probem is for sure in pump I would take it apart and you may have to touch up the gears to eliminate the racket.

Thank you for the insight.

She got 40 acres more to drill so after that I'll look but it sounds like she's worn out.

I will be looking for another pump.
Thanks again,
Joe
