Just getting ready to install new clutch and newly acquired engine in my super a and was wondering if the flywheel should be ground. If so, who does this type of work and what should i expect to pay? thanks

An automotive machine shop should have the equipment and know-how to do it. Check with a local auto parts like a NAPA, they should be able to reccomend one.

Don't forget that flywheel has a step in it. That depth has to be maintained by the machine shop.

Most engine machine shops and some parts stores can do this and the last one that i had done for my own 806 cost me 30 bucks but that was my price and for customers he charges fifty .

Hello mark,
It won't hurt to get the flywheel ground. The flywheel step (distance from where the pressure plate bolts to the clutch surface) should be 1.188. most machine shops can grind a flywheel. I pay anywhere from $60 to $80 I get alot of machine work done so i think I get a better price. be sure to get it ground and not cut.
Good luck Ed

Here's a pic of the 'step' to which Red Dave was referring, grinding on two levels. It maintains the precise difference between where the pressure plate assembly bolts and where the pressure plate itself 'grabs'.

I'm remembering in the 20-30 dollar range.

You got a VERY good deal. It runs in the $80-90 range here for the two surface flyweels like that one.
