I am replacing seals on driveshaft and countershaft on my 43 H and i can shake the shaft on front of trans. bearing is loose, it is also loose on outside & will spin in carrier with my fingers? does this bearing slip off shaft and shaft stay in place or will it drop down? also what is the part # for this bearing?
i have a Motion Ind. here in town. i know they will be cheaper than CIH. Thanks

You can find the number by typing M in the link. I agree that Motion will be cheaper than CaseIH, IF they have it in stock. CaseIH will probably have to order it, I think most dealers have switched to 2 day delivery in "stock" orders, meaning no shipping charges. I imagine that Motion will add shipping if they have to order it. The last seal I ordered from the local bearing dealer (not Motion) would have been cheaper from CaseIH because of no shipping charges. If Motion has it in stock, forget what I said.

It's probably easier to take the cover off the transmission than trying to replace it around from underneath.

I think it is foolish to make that assumption. It has been awhile since I have bought bearings for an IH tractor, but the dealer was considerably cheaper than the bearing house. Do your due diligence via the telephone.

You may as well unbolt the input shaft bearing cage and pull it out the front of transmission. Then you can check it out including piliot bearing. Will make it better to remove the bearing from input shaft and see if the bearing cage is bad and also check the rear bearing on input shaft. If the bearing just spins in the cage but is not loose enough to have play, when the bearing retainer with seal is bolted on it may keep the bearing from spinning.
